The fish-filleting friends set off 'down under' to spend some or all of their jackpot winnings and along the way discover more about their 'real' selves. The four ladies who created their characters - Pearl (Lynne Whitaker), Jan (Melanie Duff), Linda (Tania Smith) and Shelley (Louise Hardy) - worked well together and worked hard to bring out the humour of each new situatioin. The scenes changed quickly and the simple settings were very suitable. Just when one wondered where the plot was leading Dean Robson and Gary Wilkinson gave it a filip appearing in fantastic costumes, sweeping up the four friends into a Gay Carnival. Bondi Bitch and Koala Bare certainly livened up the proceedings!
Sadly sequels rarely hit the high spots of the original winner. Ladies Day was an excellent blend of humour and poignancy but here I felt that the author, Amanda Whittington, struggled to replicate this formula.
However the cast served up an amusing evening's entertainment for their audience. Well done.
