Jon Hall & Di Mannion

This was Di and Jon's first outing directing a play and they could not have chosen a better production.

The play introduces us to four at a fish factory, co-workers who decide to go to Royal Ascot's Ladies day when it comes to York racecourse as this is Pearls wish as she is retiring from the factory. They decide to place their bets on the tote and keep winning and winning. Until the last race when they loose all their money, or do they? We also learn the secrets they are keeping from each other.

Jennifer Smith played Pearl who had kept her affair a secret. Jessamy Ashton's performance as Shelly kept the audience laughing as she wanted to be a TV star. Stephanie Miles as Jan, a single mum, had the audience in tears with her drunken behaviour and Rachel Field played Linda, the Tony Christie fan who went to the races hoping to see her hero and finds love with a Jockey. These four actresses really worked well together and you could see how much they were enjoying themselves.

The ladies were well supported by Ray Lawrence, Phil Lines, Rick Jones, Paul Stewart, Ray Smith and Colin Townsend.

The set, constructed by members of Trinity was really well done, especially the grandstand and the costumes just blended in well with the background.

With Trinity you are always ensured of a great nights entertainment and if you missed this you missed a treat.
