This fast moving and very entertaining production was presented well by SCMTC.  I loved the opening when Don (Paul Lumsden) came on, talking on his mobile phone, and informing the audience not to take photographs and to turn off their phones off.

The production continued with John Johnson as Mr. Price singing about shoes to young Charlie, played by Ewan Tall.  We are then introduced to the management and staff at Price & Son’s shoe factory, plus the adult Charlie and his pushy girlfriend Nicola (Sarah Jordan) who wants, and persuades Charlie, to move to London.  When his father dies Charlie (played superbly by Patrick Jervis) returns to take over the factory but, orders are being returned.  After a meeting Charlie meets Lola, the fabulous drag Queen, Daniel Surj’s portrayal   was faultless and totally believable, great acting and singing.  Charlie decides to make Kinky Boots at the factory and with Lola’s help, they do.  Charlie is assisted by his right hand women, Lauren, played by his real life wife Charlotte Jervis.  Lola introduces us to her girls, you were all fantastic.  Great Costumes and make-up but I am still not sure how you managed to walk on those heels.  I loved the boxing match between Lola / Simon and Don.  You ladies got into all sorts of positions.

Other key characters in the making of the boots were Tony Orbell s factory manager George and outspoken Don (Paul Lumsden).  He even wore boots at the end!  Good support came from Louise Grifferty as Trish.  The remainder of the cast worked really well together with outstanding singing.

Costumes looked great and a spectacular set, especially the Milan cat walk.  The lighting was good and the orchestra well balanced.  You could hear every word being sung.

Congratulations to the production team for this sell out show which the audience really enjoyed. And also to Andy Timmins who stepped into conduct the orchestra in the absence of Sheila Pearson who was unavailable.  Thank you so much for the invite and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
