‘A hilarious comedy by John Chapman and Dave Freeman’, this production certainly lived up to its billing. Briefly the plot revolves around the dual life of Harriet who, having dispensed with an unfortunate marriage, now alternates her life between Gordon and Alec, both of whom, unknown to each other, contribute financially to the upkeep of her home as well as her love life! As her carefully planned weekly timetable unravels with the arrival of her long lost friend Anne, the situations become more frenetic.
With excellent timing and pace Harriet (Amanda Gill), Gordon (David Smith), Alec (Gerry Wilkinson) and Anne (Heather Boulby) make the most of their characters as the plot evolves from amusing to farcical. The cast is competently completed by Richard (Ian Stephenson), Anne’s husband and the two wives - Magda (Jane Fellows) and Mildred (Karen Kirkup).
Much credit should go to the Director for such successful use of the small stage area – a split set bedroom and living room. The restricted space actually concentrated the action so that facial and body reactions were particularly effective.
Compliments too for those who designed the colour coordinated flats and furniture, such a suitable background to the production.
A highly entertaining evening.
