~~This show was billed as a Truly Terrific Torrent of Vivacious Variety Acts, well nobody could say there wasn’t any variety in this show as it moved swiftly on from an upbeat Gospel Medley starting with Caitlin Cosimini as the opening soloist and followed by the rest of the company including the MD who also stood up to sing Amazing Grace before taking his seat again at the keyboard.
The show moved on and featured Sophie May who beautifully performed I’m Not That Girl originally sung by Idina Menzel, Sophie May was able to do this number justice and was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole audience. We were also entertained by a Melodrama entitled “Pop go the Yokels” which told the story of how Dandelion and Burdock was made, it was narrated and played out by members which delighted the audience and contained some very cringe making rhymes throughout causing laughter and smiles.
One of the highlights for me was the Hallelujah Chorus which was hilarious, not the usual one we all know and love but one which was played by a group of Nuns and all done in mime, very, very funny and well acted.
It is always good to see a group of youngsters on stage, especially when it is obvious they are enjoying themselves and here we had a group of eleven youngsters who not only played their respective roles both in their “Bonding” play but also in musical items they joined in and gave them much pleasure which in turn came over to the audience.
As I said at the start of my review there was plenty of variety in this show and I am sure there would be something to please everyone, this, together with some very subtle lighting changes produced an enjoyable afternoon’s entertainment, well done to all involved.
