With over 70 youths and children taking part in this production every single adult involved in helping in anyway backstage need congratulating as each and every cast member looked stunning and acted impeccably. We attended on opening night and the energy in the room was exciting with a full house (as was the case all week)

The Children’s choir sounded beautiful and added to the show by sitting on the steps at the edge of the thrust stage and singing along to the numbers with some nice choreographic  moves for them.

The stage looked fantastic and the lighting plot enhanced each scene. The sound was never overpowering and considering how many voices were singing that was a feat in itself. Anthony Quimby did a fantastic job both conducting and working with the cast on the musical numbers to get the absolute best out of each and every one of them.

The costumes and props looked fabulous and suited the scenes and I particularly liked the camels.

The general company and Wives/Company filled their roles beautifully. I loved the dancing which was well drilled and creative with each number. There was much humour in many of the songs which was executed well by the dancers and principal cast.

And now to the principal cast which was superbly headed by Jordan Lavin as Joseph. His command of the stage and wonderful vocals were more than fitting for this role.

Frank Williams as both Jacob and Potipher acted the parts brilliantly and Tom Davison as Pharoah and Simeon looked and sounded fabulous in both roles. All the other brothers played their parts with great conviction, superb choreography and lovely vocals with some spot on harmonies. Molly Mae France made a beautiful wife to Potiphar looking and sounding clear and strong.

Katherine Farrow and Emily Lyons were absolutely stunning in acting, dancing and vocally as the Narrators. Their songs were beautifully delivered with super diction allowing the whole tale to be heard.  Their voices blended perfectly together and the harmonies on all their numbers were fabulous.  The narration came  alive in their  more than capable hands.

It is a long time since I have seen such a large cast but every one of these young performers deserved their places on that stage. A huge well done to all involved with this production but especially Gary Jones-McCaw whose vision and choreography were superb and who continues to give these young people life affirming skills. To take on a show with 72 cast members would give most Directors and Choreographers a major headache but the whole show was so slick and flowed without a hitch which is down to Gary’s planning, patience, commitment, vision and creativity.

A fabulous opening night and a great night for every member of the audience.
