Whenever I go to see a production of Joseph I am interested to see the somewhat slightly different Character interpretations of the same show, as the programme states this musical like no other and traverses all genres of music from rock, pop and calypso to country. However, the story remains the same, family, mistakes and forgiveness all relevant today as always.

The cast at union theatre never fail to amaze me when putting on their productions in the limited facilities and space of the Church, they produce fantastic shows with zero scenery and a just few relevant props, the finished work a testament to the director's vision and of course the excellence of their acting. Enhanced on this occasion by some very colourful costumes, great choreography and not to forget the support of a fifteen strong Children’s ensemble, wonderful!

Without mentioning every cast member by name, I must say that all on stage gave 100% in every chorus number and scene. The Three Narrators, Kate Gilbert, Jemma Reid and Alexandra Challender were all fantastic, I also really enjoyed watching Marcus Queenborough when he was the Butler and Rosie Jewell as the Baker. Alexander Tipping was also superb when playing Joseph.

My most memorable musical numbers from the evening ’Any Dream Will Do ‘, ‘One More Angel In Heaven’, ‘Close Every Door’, ’Those Canaan Days’ including the haunting violin I think played by Gail Kirby, and of course ‘Any Dream Reprise, Give me My Coloured Coat’.

Congratulations and well done to all concerned, on this well cast production that pulled out all the stops to bring this BIG production to the small but actually perfect venue. You should all be very proud.

Thank you once again for the invitation and your hospitality.
