It was good to see an adult performance of ‘Joseph, and what an enjoyable show it turned out to be.

The visual impact of the show was excellent, the set was very well managed, meaning that the movement from scene to scene was quick and well handled. It is essential that good pace is maintained throughout. The lighting was well executed, particularly the colour changes in the megamix were superb.

This show is a real ensemble piece, with some excellent comedic musical numbers. I particularly enjoyed Will Patrick singing ’One More Angel’, and Kieron McCormack singing ‘Benjamin Calypso’. All main characters were very well played , but for me the showstopper was Andy Hamilton, as Pharoh, singing ‘Song of the King. How often can one say that the cameo part becomes the star of the show. Ryan Grainger as Joseph, and Sarah Carrick as the Narrator, both played their roles with style, and kept the pace moving. All The ensemble numbers were very well performed. Special mention must go to Choreographer, Sally McKimm, whose dances suited the genre and style of each musical number, and every member of the ensemble were completely in sync at all times.

The orchestra was very well led by Ian Bird. The costumes were excellent and added greatly to the visual impact of the production. I know from personal experience how hard Steve Carrick must have worked, to bring this energetic production together. It was obvious to the audience how much everyone on stage were enjoying themselves. Well done to BODS for a very enjoyable evening.
