Those who did not see this ‘Joseph’ missed an extremely good production. With a group of nearly 60 enthusiastic and energetic young people the discipline throughout the cast was obvious from the outset. Vocally the group was strong, in some cases exceptionally so. Of the principle characters ‘Joseph’ was a delight, his reactions to the events surrounding him were well portrayed, and his singing was a joy to listen to, quite amazing, he also looked resplendent in his coat of many colours. ‘Close Every Door’ was just great, well done Connor Wood. Lewis Devitt as ‘Jacob’ interpreted his role well with some good interaction between him and his other sons. All the brothers worked well together, each had their own versions of their characters. I did enjoy ‘One More Angel In Heaven’.
The production team decided to have 4 young ladies as ‘The Narrators’, they worked individually and as a quartet to great effect. Ben Sibbitt was a good ‘Potiphar’ and his not so faithful wife ‘Mrs Potiphar’, Neikara Reed added the humour. I liked Lloyd Scott-McCullough as the ‘Pharaoh’, his number was very effective.
All the supporting parts were well played, the whole production team had obviously worked hard getting the very best out of the young cast, and who in turn gave all they could. The set was really lovely, I liked the choreography and I did spot a young boy who really put his heart and sole into the routine. The orchestra was as always excellent. Credit also must go to the myriad team of helpers keeping everybody on their toes. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
