This first show from the newly formed youth group was truly an amazing production with high production values.

On entering the theatre you notice a runway jutting out from the stage and this was put to good use in this fast moving production.  Director Paul Lumsden made full use of the available space at the town hall.

To mark the opening of the production, a group of school children make their way up to the stage to be told the story of Joseph by two narrators.  These two roles were taken by Juliet Fisher and Ellicia Smith who worked so well you would think they were one person.  There singing, in such perfect harmony, was a joy to listen to.  Excellent diction.  Tom Lafferty as the ‘Elvis’ Pharaoh, had the audience clapping along.  Good supporting roles were taken by Bae Rooney, Joe Sutton, Jessica Dovey, Jessica Neil and Eloise Wilson as well as all of Joseph’s brothers.  The energy and commitment from all the cast was infectious.

At the heart of this production was Joseph, played by Ben Hayfield.  I really do not know what to say about his performance.  It was just faultless.  Superb singing and wonderful diction.  A true assest to this society and I am sure he will go a long way in musical theatre.

Jane Slassor’s choreography was a joy to watch, especially the hoe down.

Starting a new society is not easy, especially a new youth group for an existing society but this one has such high values.  The costumes were outstanding and when combined with the sound, scenery and lighting, it just made a wonderful evenings entertainment complete.  I found out after the production most of the technical side of the show was done, again, by young members of the society.

A truly amazing feat in this flawless production.
