From start to finish ESOS production of Jesus Christ Super Star sparkled with energy, vitality and a complete dedication from cast, band and crew with exceptionally high production values. Clearly Sally Jones had superbly communicated her vision of the piece with the cast, as the performances were all first class and very joined up both integrally and between characters.

The company are extremely lucky to have some very talented singers to support generally excellent acting performances. Of particular note were Jason Lines [Jesus], Kevin Stuart [Annas] and Michael Saunders [Peter]. However top credit must go to Jamie Thomas as Judas who not only delivered a highly powerful rock tenor performance but was also completely captivating in the role which has such an intense character. Jess Allen as Mary also gave a touching and highly committed performance bringing her own distinctive style to the part and delivering an accomplished rendition of the ever popular 'I Don't Know How to Love Him.'

Vanessa Chambers choreography was well thought out and suited the diversity of the show and the range of performers very well. The production was supported by a truly fabulous band under the musical direction of Andrew Payne.

My guest and I were both very pleased to hear Stuart Vaughan provide such a clean and clear sound mix and the balance between the performers and the band was perfect along with appropriate and artistically effective volume swells in all the right dramatic places. However it was Will Perkins lighting that put all the delightfully detailed final touches to the production with inventive and imaginative flare and sparkle evoking the wide diversity of mood and drama perfectly.
