This show was so fast paced from start to finish and all of the company should be proud of it. If someone had told me that this was an amateur production and not a professional one I would have queried this.
We all know the plot of this production regarding Jesus’ last few days on earth and how he was betrayed.
Leading the company in the role of Jesus was Tom Wells who played the part with all the gusto it required. He sang and acted well in all he did. He was well supported by Leo Foetu-Foster as Judas and Juliet Fisher as Mary Magdalene. All three worked well together and when Juliet sang ‘I don’t know how to Love him’ she brought the house down. Also great support came from Tony Orbell as King Herod and Paul Lumsden as Caiaphas, with Mark Skett as Pilate and Dan McCloskey and Jamie Wilson as Peter and Simon.
Supporting these cast members was a great ensemble who sang and danced so well. I really don’t know where they got the energy from.
Maggie Jackson as choreographer did a fantastic job, one she should be proud of. Sheila Pearson led a great sounding orchestra, not over bearing, you could hear every word being sung. Costumes looked good.
The use of back stage projection was a hit, the effect it gave really added to the production as did the lighting and sound. And all credit to the back stage crew, any prop changes were seamless.
Anyone who missed. This production missed a treat and Simon Smith and the whole of the company should be pleased with the outcome.
Thank you so must for the invite and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
