EROS Drama and Theatre, the newest group to join the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) in District 4, recently staged a delightful production of "Jack & Jill and The Beanstalk". This self written pantomime was brought to life with much enthusiasm and creativity, providing a memorable experience for the local community.
I for one am extremely proud of Erin Holmes, Artistic Director and Founder of EROS for her hard work, dedication, determination and growth. She’s created a safe space for people to perform in and a cracking little community pantomime that the audiences certainly enjoyed. In addition, she also stepped into the role of Jack with 2 weeks notice due to cast illness! All of us at NODA are certainly rooting for its success and if you need any help please don’t hesitate to reach out.
The staging of "Jack & Jill andThe Beanstalk" was well-executed, showcasing the talent and dedication of EROS Drama and Theatre on a small stage with a built out thrust stage to allow for scene changes and setting changes. The set design was both imaginative and functional and effective use of space. The direction was adept, ensuring that the story flowed seamlessly and kept the audience engaged.
One of the standout qualities of this production was its strong sense of community entertainment. EROS Drama and Theatre successfully created an inclusive atmosphere where audience members of all ages, backgrounds and abilities could enjoy the show. The interactive elements and audience participation were particularly effective in fostering a sense of involvement and joy among attendees.
The costumes in "Jack & Jill and The Beanstalk" were lovely and added a vibrant visual appeal to the production. Each character's attire was thoughtfully designed to reflect their personality and role within the story. The attention to detail in the costumes helped to enhance the overall aesthetic and charm of the performance.
Humour is a key component of any successful pantomime, and EROS Drama and Theatre did not disappoint in this regard. The production featured several funny moments that elicited genuine laughter from the audience. The comedic timing and delivery of the cast were commendable, contributing to the light-hearted and enjoyable nature of the show. Sound effects were really excellent by Kat Faghy and Natassia Charles and the lighting well designed for the space and production. Well done Kat.
Well done to all of the cast involved with Shannon Burman Boyd playing Silly Simon, Marie Lovell playing Dame Tilly Trott, Natassia Charles playing Princess Jill, Sean Khalad playing King Dominic, Amelia Woodley playing Fairy Evergreen, Oli Pages playing Fleshcreep, Alex Harker playing Spinach, Britney Borrits playing the Giant, Shauna Rae playing Buttercup, Ruby Sutherland playing the Golden Goose, Carmel Harrison playing the Golden Harp, Jonathon Ryan playing Kevin Kiwi and Sasha Brown as a Footman and dancer.
