Jack and the Beanstalk

This is what Needham Market Entertainments do best and really excel!  Brilliant sets are always the rule and this year did not disappoint. A highlight in this field was the Ice Cream Cart which was brilliant!  A good cast brought the show to life and everyone played their parts well.

Principal boy was Sarah France who excels in this role, and of course always the popular comedy duo this time in the form of Slapp and Tickle played so well by Pat Cross and Gillian Hilder. I loved Rebekah Holland who played the baddie Scallawag, a part very similar to last years, but she does villains so well!   Of course we must mention the Dame, popular Frank Lea who excels in this part, playing Dame quite a few times now, but always great.  The children in the audience loved the Spooky Guard (Tom Coomber) and gave him a rousing boo!! 

There were many good characters this year including a silver be-wigged Fairy Bubble who came and saved the day with a flash of her wand. Of course the children’s’ chorus was delightful, enjoying themselves and delighting the mums and dads and everyone in the audience.

Judy Cairns led a small band of musicians which were always sympathetic to the singers and loud when required!

Well done Needham an enjoyable afternoon.
