EADS’s panto adventure this year took us into the land of overgrown vegetables and nasty giants. Ian Glover’s immensely boo-able Giant’s henchman Grisly’s evil antics were countered beautifully by Jenna Ward’s Fairy Green Bean. Principal Boy Colleen Kelly’s Jack Durden was suitably thigh-slapping and gung ho as he set forward to rescue the girl he loved - laird’s daughter Miranda played by Nikki Robinson. Luke Wilson as hapless Simon Durden supplied much of the comedy and interacted well with the audience. Ben Mortimer as a fiercely Scottish Independent minded Laird Goodknight, complete with kilt and bagpipes, was an excellent foil to Lindsay Knight’s Dame Durden. Lisa McFarlane and Amy Hector’s Daisy the Cow was extremely expressive and supplied the “aah” factor. Sandy Dow was an impressive Giant Blunderbore and from the beautiful singing of Anna Bayliss as captured Harriet the Harpist it was clear why the giant found it so soothing. The large chorus was enthusiastic and sang and moved well. Well done all at EADS.
