Pantomimes are all about having fun and enjoying yourself, whether you are six or sixty and I am sure everyone at Dewsbury had a fun filled evening last night. Lots of popular well known songs that varied from 'On a Wondedrful Day like Today, to 'Stout Hearted Men' through to 'Crying in the Chapel', this was for the wedding finale, very Elvis oriented. Jack (Natalie Jackson) and Princess Demelza (Haley Thompson) were very impressive principals with singing their strong point. Slimeball (Kirsty Firth) made a very powerful nasty and Daisy the Cow (Janet Jackson and Ann Broadbent) gave a commendable performance with its antics and good movements. There was a fantastic Giant Blunderbore with his huge boots, large costume and very tall hat, dancing in his big boots. The Junior and Senior dancers performed some good dance routines with lovely costumes. The scenery in Act 1 'The Village of Little St. Barnacle' was bright and cheerful as opposed to Act 2, up in the clouds which was quite plain and simple. Congratulations to the props team for finding a real live 'Golden Hen', which scratched around in its cage on the stage. Beautiful costumes throughout with a delightful finale all dressed in purple and silver. Well done the Collegians.
