This was a NODA script; one I had not encountered before. There was a lot of fun and frivolity with well-chosen foot-tapping songs and interesting dance routines. The band's support was good. The backcloths were fine and the scenery was quite delightful. the lighting and other effects were pleasing and the costumes were eye-catching and colourful. The chorus participation was very sound. All the main characters were nicely portrayed from the Wicked Witch and the Broker's Men to Alice and Jack as the love interest. There was plenty of comedy, too, from Simple Simon and Dame Dandelion. Buttercup the cow was most appealing. At the start of the evening although there were quite a few youngsters in the audience, they were rather quiet. However, once they realised they could boo, hiss and cheer they joined in the fun with plenty of spirit. This put us all in the right mood for Christmas.
