Tonight was a delight from start to finish. I cannot express the pleasure that watching this performance gave me. All was in place, acting, singing and dancing and all of the highest standard. Well done production team!
I loved this version of this traditional pantomime because it allowed the talents of this group to shine with a large cast of principals. All were outstanding and deserve a mention. So here goes. Jack (Ellen Ryder) smart and stylish was perfectly paired with Princess (Fern Duncan) sweet and sassy. Dame Dotty (Tom Richmond) sharp and witty teamed up superbly with Simple Simon (Archie Turnbull) agile and fun who encouraged the audience into their world. The baddies were represented by a quartet of suitably cast characters, Snatchet (Rachel Weir) deliciously dim, Scarper (Hannah Adams) cunningly crafty, Rancid (Lucy Reilley) disgustingly devious and Witch Piccalilli (Kirsty Beaumont) creepily contriving all giving the story its purpose. We move on to the royal entourage with King Crumble (Sean O’Rourke) majestic and muddled, Queen Apricot (Tasmin McGilchrist) stately and correct, Humphrey (Piper Uribe) confidently sharp and Fairy Sugardust (Nicole Vasey) kind and clever ensuring all turns out for the best. Finally we have our Giant (Nick Browne) and his voice (Neil Hartley) a perfect pairing of talent to bring the ultimate villain to life and everyone’s favourite character Buttermilk (Sharon McLaren) the expertly played vital glue in the story. The chorus were all on top form and their enjoyment flowed out into the audience completing the package.
Thank you again for a memorable evening
