They say that thirteen is an unlucky number, but, for the thirteen cast members in this panto this was far from the truth. This panto, written and directed by Craig Carlon, was a big hit with this sell out audience from start to finish.
Jack (Played by James Nuttall) and Alex Bates as Dame Trot worked well together, a traditional Mother and Son duo. Fleshcreep (Laura Ellis) the giant’s right hand man was played well and how the audience booed every time she (he) came on. Craig created some good pairings in this production, David Stead and Clair Moore as King Putupon and Princess Jill, Emily Paine and Anne Hewitt as Deadwina and Batsy and a great fairy in the form of Joanne Rhodes. Although we did not see the giant this character was well voiced by Maureen Bowyer. Great support came from Annette Bird, Oliver Clark, Sandra Bisseker and Craig Carlon.
But I have to say Craig’s most endearing character was Big Mac, the cow, played by Emily Stephens. Funny is not the word, her performance was outstanding and how the audience loved her.
There was some good music in the production and most of it in harmony. The costumes looked good and even though there was little scenery and not many props the stage seemed full with these larger than life characters.
Congratulations to you all.
