This popular, well-known Pantomime by Alan Frayn was certainly a good choice as could be seen by a packed venue.

The whole Community is involved in these popular Productions and once again there was a mixture of seasoned performers, newcomers and a large group of youngsters.

James Miley, Director, is always keen to encourage the younger members at all levels with acting, dancing and singing skills and the experiences involved with a Production helps with confidence and discipline.

Catherine Grilli, Children’s Director, together with Choreographer Olivia Christopher and their teams, are to be congratulated on their dedication and hours of rehearsal to ensure all the youngsters get a chance to shine. Well done to chaperones and backstage staff who are essential to ensure the smooth running of the Pantomime. I liked the way the central aisle was used to add another dimension to the playing area.

The Cast worked well together to interpret this family friendly script and there were many good performances. Liz Hobin as Scarper and Joan Miller as Snatchet work so well together and their comic timing is excellent. Sheridan Rawlings as Piccalilli the witch was suitably nasty and received many “ boos “ whilst the contrasting role of Fairy Sugardust, Emma Lamb gave an aura of calm and stability. I was particularly impressed, by Simple Simon, played by Ben Percival, who had an engaging personality whilst encouraging audience participation. He had good stage presence and his energetic performance left me feeling quite exhausted. Diction, together with great projection by all Principals, was very impressive, essential, especially in Pantomime.

Costumes were outstanding with good use of colours and fabrics. Technicians made good use of the newly installed lighting and together with excellent sound effects ensured the success of the evening.

If the reaction from the audience was anything to go by, this was another great success for this talented Company.    My wife and I had a very enjoyable evening.
