I love going to the Pier Pavilion for the yearly Westovian panto, as it has such a brilliant atmosphere. This year was just as good as ever, with some great performances in this popular show.

Craig Richardson, as Jack Trott, and Stephen Sullivan, as Dame Gladys Trott, are a really excellent comedy duo. The audiences love them, and they always produce performances of a high standard. This appeared to be a panto of duos with Mark Lamb and Christopher Perry as comedy pair Shuffle and Stamp, who gave the children plenty to laugh at. Next came the fairy duo of Laura Pigford, as good Fairy Haricot, and Rachael Walsh as bad Fairy Mildew. They produced good contrasting characters from sweet and perfect to evil and imposing. Finally came James Barton, as the bumbling King Upsadaisy, and Amy Jeffels as the sweet and cute Princess Melody. As always the Chorus and Babes were very well drilled and looked superb, while Kylie Ford in the great cameo role of Foggy drifted in and out of the scenes causing mayhem.

As always the sets were fabulous, thanks to the society’s talented artist, and the lighting had some clever effects. This was a good evening’s entertainment, enjoyed by both adults and children. Well done to all of you.
