Godalming Theatre Group used their vast experience, in the production of this Toby Bradford and Tina Webster traditional pantomime, utilising their very talented performers including members of the Youth Group to great effect. The action takes place in the fields and forests of Greendale, Dame Tilley’s Cottage and the Giant’s Castle
Jenny Mayor’s direction coupled with fine performances from the actors gave a very polished production. Sophie Bostock (Jack) was a very good principal boy ably supported by Matthew Curnier (Simple Simon). Izzie Radley (Jill) as the love interest had a very pleasant singing voice, Martin Chapman (Dame Tillie) was a traditional ‘motherly’ dame keeping the show together. Sarah Newey (Fairy Haricot Vert) gave an excellent performance with a marvellous french accent, Carol Gallagher (Grotviler) was suitably evil and Mary Gallagher with the help of Jen Baxter was part of a very funny Buttercup the cow. The show was very ably supported by the rest of the cast and ensemble including a very talented youth section. Bob Good directed a very good ‘hidden’ orchestra
Stage Manager Tara Exell and her team and Lighting Designer Eddie King put together simple but effective sets and lighting enhanced by Mike Wheeler’s sound.. Of special note was the excellent Beanstalk. Well done GTG a full house thoroughly enjoyed the pantomime
