Another varied and challenging programme performed by the Encore section of the Wymsical Theatre group, kicked off with a rousing company rendition of ‘Ruritania’ from Novello’s “Gay’s the Word”. Imogen Humphries followed with a soft but tuneful voice singing ‘It’s As If We Never Said Goodbye’ from “Sunset Boulevard” and the company was joined by Emily Kitcat, with plenty of punch, with ‘Omigod you guys!’ from “Legally Blonde”.

There was some nice harmony in ‘17’ from “Heathers” (Sylvie Symons & Clara Davies) and Megan Cooper sang ‘Home’ from “Beauty and the Beast” with feeling. During ‘Autumn’ from “Perchance to Dream” Beth Lawson danced really well. Megan Jones gave a poised performance of ‘Someday My Heart Will Awake’ from “Kings Rhapsody” and it was clear everyone on stage enjoyed a stylish performance of ‘The Time Warp’ from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” with a great tap-break from Ellie Morris.

Beth Lawson returned to sing ‘In My Dreams’ from “Anastasia” – a lovely gentle voice - before the company concluded Part 1 with ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ from “Mary Poppins”.

Whilst some of the numbers are traditionally sung by mature adults you have to take your hat off to Wymsical for introducing them to the youngsters, which whilst challenging, must widen their musical appreciation. Entrances and exits were well timed and the stage was well used. That so, those in the back row must still remember to smile!

Part 2 opened with ‘42nd St., a great opportunity well taken to develop some good tap-dancing skills and this was followed by Kaitlyn Norwood singing ‘World Burn’ from “Mean Girls” with maturity. Sam Nield and Lucy Tyrrell led the company with some great humour with ‘I’m All Alone’ from “Spamalot”, but possibly the performance of the evening was Ellie Morris singing ‘Flaunt It’, from “The Producers”, projecting well with style.

Lucy Allsop and Jess Young’s voices blended so well with ‘We’ll Gather Lilacs’ from “Perchance To Dream” and Part 2 concluded with two more Novello numbers, culminating with the poignant ‘Keep the Home Fires Burning’.

Another concert to be proud of, Well done to all involved.
