This was an amazing and clever piece of theatre - exactly what I expect from this talented group.

Briefly, it centred on the theme of 'The Seven Ages of Man/Woman' - from cradle to seniority in music, poetry and prose. Charlotte Jackson, the Director and Choreographer, had dreamed up the concept and 'challenged' their Musical Director, Louise Norbury-Robinson and Assistant MD, Matthew Jackson to find new ways of presenting familiar songs - this they did with imagination and verve. The great thing about musical revue is that it enables the whole group to get fully involved - true community theatre. Everybody gave their very best to present a total of 35 musical numbers, featuring solos, duets, trios and ensemble numbers which linked the journey taken by we humans from babyhood to senility - it made absolutely no difference to the actual age of the performers, they were all believable in the time-frame of each number. Charlotte had chosen some witty monologues and poems, which had the audience really laughing - plus clever choices of songs to further illustrate the scenes - these songs covered a large range of 'oldies', modern and musical numbers to excellent effect. The set was also very clever - in the style of a living room - framed photos were added to the back wall as the decades rolled by (a little note; these could have been a bit bigger from the audience's point of view). As always, the lighting and sound were in the capable hands of Ian Thomson and Adam Moore (Tech 247), giving the whole production a very professional feel. Andrew Thomson and his team worked very well, as did Laura Wilkinson and Claire Jackson with costumes (the ladies could have had a touch more make-up on - this is a personal observation).

This all made for a great evening's entertainment - I have to say the highlights of the show for me were the songs 'When I grow Up' performed in song and sign language and the Victoria Wood classic song 'Let's Do It' - an absolute hoot! I must also make mention of the well designed programme - most unusual and informative.

To the WAG Class of 2017 - I raise my hat to you all for a fabulous evening's entertainment.
