CATS have really excelled with their latest show. Into The Woods has shown just how talented this group are. Sondheim has combined fairy tales such as Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk. and Little Red Riding Hood with the Bakers wife and their desire to have a child. A witch has cast a spell on them and they must perform various missions to break the spell and have a baby.
The fairy tale characters get involved and all their wishes come true. Second act tells how having accomplished their goals they learn how things go wrong reminding me of the saying `Be Careful what you wish for.` They must work together to resolve their future.
All the actors were well cast. Everyone sang and acted so very well. I did enjoy the performances of Amelia Atherton (Bakers Wife). Em Cohen (Little Red Riding Hood) and Katie Ball who gave a stunning performance as the Witch. Jack was well played by Joseph Foster as was Rebecca Bolton as Cinderella, with beautiful vocals.. Maisie Melia-Redgrave made a lovely Rapunzel.
Ben Whitehead gave a polished performance as the Baker, as did the two Princes (Dom Gannon) and (Tim O`Callaghan). I loved the characterisation of Mel Ratcliffe (Jack`s Mother) looking and acting an old lady, well done.
Every single person on stage including the chorus put on a perfect performance .The set was well thought out, costumes and orchestra just right. My congratulations to Louise, great show.
Thank you so much for a smashing evening`s entetainment.
