Set in the vicarage in the village of Stebbington-Fawley, this play gave the audience a laugh a minute. With a vicar advertising for a new housekeeper with an advert that isn`t worded quite right, he has to contend with his very bossy sister and a housekeeper who is threatening to leave, trouble was brewing. Add to this the arrival of a nephew who is famous, being followed by his girl friend and several other people, this is really a most amusing play.
Every cast member was very well chosen, everyone perfect and bringing smiles from the audience. Howard Clare was brilliant as the Rev. Arthur Humphrey as was Debbie Eustace as Mrs Carter. Ann Campbell and Maureen Clare gave strong performances as Harriette Humphrey and Winifred Barrington-Locke. I was impressed by Maureen`s performance as the widow looking for her next husband, very funny. Peter (Venture Man) Graham was well played by Scott Alker. As the star chased by his fans, he tries to hide from them, bringing many laughs from the audience.
Smaller roles were equally strong. They included Mark Bradley as the Photographer desperately Trying to get a good shot . Trisha Shorten cast as Josephine De Brissace who answers the advert for housekeeper, of course misinterpreting the message, and Kim Toth playing Pixie( I`ll get my man) Potter determined to get the love of her life Peter Graham. Finally , I loved Bert Halliday and his performance of The Bishop of Lax.
My congratulations to ALL the cast for such a very funny play. Well done Emily as your first play with St Vincents as Director, brilliant !!!!!!!!
Many thanks for attention and care given to me, looking forward to your next play.
