~~This production is based on the story of the ugly duckling  and is set in the countryside, and even through the audience for this GBMTC production was small they really enjoyed it.  The cast gave it their all and how it showed.
The stage was well dressed even down to the small animals in the undergrowth and the costumes were colourful.
The company were led by Emily Paine, as Ugly.  This was her first major role but you would have not known this.  She was full of confidence and a great asset to this society.
With a exceptional cast of twenty you cannot mention everyone but I did enjoy James Ellis as Cat and Alex Bates as Ida, what a lovely singing voice.  Good support came from Craig Smith as Drake, who with Ida, look after their brood.
I enjoyed watching Claire Jepson as the Frog, great costume and Charlene Walker as Maggie Pie (she does love to have a microphone in her hand).
I did feel that sometimes the orchestra over powed the actors and during some points I could only hear the drums
The production had some really good touches and all this is down to Director Maureen Bowyer.
A good nights entertainment.
