This show was well performed by the junior  section  of BCMS. With ages up to 16 years, they gave an  excellent  evenings   entertainment.  With a simple set and well done scene changes, attractive costumes and music under the direction of Nicola Worrall, the show moved with some pace.

After a nervous beginning the show picked up with everyone singing and acting very well .The head of  the  family,  Drake, and his wife, Ida  were well played by Cameron Manning and Lucy Beveridge. I loved Drake`s accent and stage presence, Ida was equally good with a beautiful voice. She was a great mum to the ducklings and of course to the last egg to hatch, an odd shaped and rather large egg  which hatched into   Ugly,  a rather odd ` duckling`.

The ducklings were all delightful, Beaky, ( Kurtis  Greenhalgh ) , Fluff (Libby Hill), Billy (Jon Allen) and Downy, (Scott Powell) , all sang and behaved just right. The harmonies when singing with others were faultless.

All other principals performed really well. They included Queenie and Lowbutt (Charlotte James) and (Olivia Longworth). They had   fantastic scenes with  and  Ugly and Cat. Michael Davies was a super Greylag, leading the geese and Ugly away from danger. Ugly finds himself near a pond were he meets Bullfrog, well played by Jake Hill. He also meets Penny (Lexie Horrocks) , a swan entangled in wire, frees her, and thinks how beautiful she is.  She of course realises that he is not the duckling that he imagjnes to be, and so, he  finds his way  home.

I have left out the two stars of the show until last. Ugly played by Sam Hill was superb as was Cat portrayed  by  Charlotte Powell.  Both acting and singing were of the highest standard. Well done

All others on stage all gave 100%. I am so sorry I could not name every one. You were all a credit to the society.

Thank you so much for the kind invitation and  a  great  evenings  entertainment.
