It is always a pleasure to visit North Stars Theatre Company and I was particularly looking forward to seeing their HistoRemix. The audience were seated cabaret style facing the stage which had a black star cloth at the back. There were no specific costumes to speak of although all the Ex – Wives did wear different colours to each other. The lighting stayed the same throughout and Darcy McCoy ( Choreographer, Musical Director and performer) and George Denson compered for the evening. It was lovely to see some more structured and cohesive choreography being presented with the vocals. I particularly enjoyed “Flash Bang Wallop!” and “Welcome To The Rock”. The sound throughout for me was very hit and miss, no gremlins but quite a few late starts – I wonder if you perhaps have a loose connection somewhere because it wasn`t on every number. I was pleased to see a lot of non usual numbers included from such a diverse range of musicals along the timeline, there were admittedly a few that had been performed in a previous HistoRemix but only about 4 out of 24 numbers. Everyone looked to be enjoying themselves on stage and it is heartwarming to see the gentle extra care that all the performers take of each other at all times. George Denson put on a show with his version of “Raise A Little Hell” although I do believe he was actually quite poorly – it just added an extra rasp to his voice.
It was a pleasure to see you all perform your now signature song “Out Of The Darkness” as your final number, both myself and my guest enjoyed your performance and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
