This musical is based on the very successful film, starring Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly, Louis Armstrong etc., which personally I really love.  However the musical is quite different, which throws up difficulties in both the music and the script.  I attended the opening night and enjoyed the production, the director Luke Arnold got the very best out of the cast, with the set and costumes being of a very high standard. The musical director Clive Wass had obviously worked very hard with the company, resulting in competent principle singing, however on occasion the chorus were hesitant, with the orchestra from time to time being too loud.  The principles were, on the whole believable, Jess Hebron the leading lady gave a polished performance, together with Rachel Anderson, first class singing and acting, Alice Rose was excellent, a definite star in the making, and I really enjoyed the performance of Mike O'Brian as Uncle Willie.  A very tricky show to perform however the company pulled it off.  Well done to all.
