This was a well thought out and well constructed tribute to those brave men and women who represented this country in any way during the Second World War and culminated in a celebration of VE Day.
There were some strong contributions from the cast in solos, ensembles and chorus singing. Many of the musical arrangements by Mark Bayliss allowed the company to demonstrate some well controlled harmony singing. It is impossible to single any one performer out as so many of the cast made valuable contributions to this evening of nostalgia.
There was a good mix of familiar and unfamiliar songs in a well chosen selection, all of them appropriate to the era.
The choreography was slick encompassing a range of styles from jive to tap and it was obvious the company enjoyed themselves.
Sound and lighting backed up a very enjoyable evening and the stage looked delightful at the start of both acts.
The director and cast had really made great efforts to recreate the feel of the 1940s in costume and hairstyle.
The society has been supporting the work of the Royal British Legion and has raised about £1000 for this worthy cause.
Well done to the production team and everyone involved in this production!
