Presented as a review of the Mellow Dramatics 101st show saw Act I taken up with songs from the shows, the opening number was spot on, Late Night Double Feature Picture Show, from Rocky Horror had two ice cream sellers walking down the long centre isle at the Brewhouse setting the standard high for what was to follow.

The numbers were staged featuring choreography and costumes, complimented by great back projections graphics, some scenes from the original shows or posters/programmes in a thoughtful presentation.

The numbers were an ecclectic mix from their past productions covering everything from Gilbert and Sullivan, a great dance number Jet Song from West Side Story, a vibrant Godspell, the main cast were very well aided and abetted by sections from the youth theatre in the Joseph Medley.

We were also treated to song performances from Old Time Musical Hall, Oklahoma, Company, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Little Shop of Horrors and Bad Girls.

Blood Brothers 'Kids Game' stood out for me, great animation, movement and humour from all of the cast. The choice of numbers gave opportunities to all of the cast members to shine, showing excellent strength of depth throughout the members both vocally and in their performances.

Again Welcome To the Rock from Come From Away, really powerful, thought-provoking musical drama, emphasised by the well drilled tight band under the Musical directorship of Tim Robinson together with Youth MD Amy Glover.

Blackout from In The Heights ended Act I – Again a pwerful full blown performance.

Multiple Directors and Choreographers brought good dynamics and interest to all of the songs.

Act II saw three shows showcased, Waitress from the brilliant singer songwriter Sara Bareilles was a complete joy. Chloe Lang excelled in her role of waitress Jenna, as did her support cast, fun and quirky songs effortlessly presented.

School of Rock medley featured the MDY Youth all performing confidently and very much at home on stage.

Mamma Mia, aah the delights of ABBA, very well presented, definitely a crowd pleaser, unless you were the gentleman sat in D6, I never seemed to get the Swede's appeal, that said, I admit to being in the minority, everyone knows the songs and it gives a sense of everything being all right, no matter the reality.

I really enjoyed the overall look and feel, the lighting, sound and scenery and costumes all created the right atmosphere. Diverse showcase of the many talents of the Mellow Dramatics.

Congratulations on 100 shows, here's to the next 100.
