As is customary at Henfield, the set designer, Stage Manager and workshop team presented a first class setting for the Director to show off both her production and her cast. All production aspects were admirable with good costumes, lighting and make-up. Ellen Hayes gave a delightful performance as Judith, the faded start actress desperate to be remembered for her past glories - a figure not unknown to us even in our amateur field! Although perhaps, on rare occasions, lacking in pace, there was not a single weakness in the cast, with good characterization and no real indication of any first night anxiety. An outstanding feature of the performance was the clarity of diction. It is rare to see credit given to the front of house staff. Here at Henfield, members of the audience are all warmly welcomed, thus putting them all in the best possible frame of mind.
