~~I have never had the pleasure of seeing this play unlike my colleague who came along with me and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly shocked in more ways than one as The Grange Players once again came up with yet another exceptional performance and according to my colleague on par or even better than the professional production he had recently seen.
I haven’t been this nervous since first seeing the Exorcist in1975!!
It tells the story of Julia Lukin, a young music student who took her own life and a father struggling to come to terms with her death. He turns the scene of her death into some kind of museum and invites her boyfriend, the last person to see her alive, along with a psychic to see if they can shed any light on the reason why she took her own life?
David Stone is Brilliant as the grieving father “Joe Lukin” who regularly plays tapes of Julia’s voice (Phoebe Hooper) as part of the museum experience, matched equally by Dexter Whitehead as boyfriend “Andy Rollinson” who throughout the story has you wondering if he was somehow involved. Ian Eaton completed this fabulous cast list as the weirdly wonderful psychic Ken Chase.
There were gasps and screams from the audience particularly in a gripping second half as the brilliant staging and special effects played with the audience and had me sitting on the edge of my seat.
Well done to all at the Grange Theatre. Another fabulous night’s entertainment and I eagerly await your next production.
