This was my first visit to the new Core Theatre in Corby, and what a lovely ambience it provides. Congratulations to whoever designed the theatre, it is an outstanding venue.   " HAPPY DAYS " is based on the hit television series " HAPPY DAYS " and is set in the late 1950's. Most of the action takes place in and around Arnold's Diner and the plot is to save the Diner from closure.   The production was expertly directed by Jon Berridge. The choreography was very good, with really authentic looking 50's routines. The musical direction was of a high standard with good quality singing from both principals and chorus alike.   There were some very strong performances throughout, notably Chuck Middleton in the role of " The Fonz " it must be very daunting to play such an iconic role but Chuck did it brilliantly. Becky Askew who played Pinky Tuscadero gave a strong performance and had excellent stage presence. Luke Campbell Simcoe, Keith Underhill, Phil Mills and Kane Duroe each gave solid performances and their four part harmonies were a joy to listen to. Well done ! I have to say that Luke Campbell Simcoe has the most authentic American accent that I have heard from an amateur performer !   The costumes were well made and typically 1950's style, which greatly enhanced the production. The scenery, well what can I say, it was truly outstanding and would not be out of place on a professional stage, so congratulations to those involved in the design and building of the sets.   This production was overall of a very high standard, and had good pace throughout. An excellent opening night with no obvious problems. Congratulations to everyone both on and off stage, and good luck for the rest of the run.   A big thank you too for the wonderful hospitality shown to myself and my guest, we both had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
