This was the first time that I had seen the ‘new’ version of this show and Trinity Players did it proud. With a simple but very effective set, Jane and Garry’s production was a joy to watch. The costumes were of a very high standard. With some of the songs from the original production replaced by new ones you would never know the difference. This version shows a mature Arthur Kipps delivering a retrospective look on his life. How he and Ann first met, his association with Helen Walsingham and his chance meeting with Chitterlow. The story tells his rise in society and his social standing to loosing everything and then right at the end bouncing back. In the end Kipps realises that love is more important and has been all along. Kipps was brilliantly played by Rob Thomas and Ann by Leigh-Ann James. Marie Hendry was in fine voice as Helen Walsingham and Brian Leather as Chitterlow was a joy to watch. With Anne Dempsey as the formidable Mrs. Walsingham this production was a sure fire hit for the society.
