This was a youth presentation of the highest calibre, of which the production team, and the entire cast should be very proud. The whole production was slick and polished, with everyone playing their parts superbly. Direction was crisp, choreography well-disciplined, and an excellent orchestra accompanied the show.
Assured performances came from an array of talent. Leading the way was Hannah Pettit as Tracy Turnblad, a classy act, commanding throughout, and vocally excellent with mature acting and dancing. The audience loved Oliver Ridgway as Edna, her mother, who gave a hoot of a display, extracting great humour from his part. Giving admirable support was Finley McQuade as Wilbur Turnblad. I loved Rob NcAuley as the smarmy DJ, Corny Collins, what a voice, and with a smile to die for. Emma Abel was delightful as Penny Pingleton, giving an impressively quirky act, Dominic Wood as Link Larkin another cracking display, with great vocals and immense charisma.
Yet more excellence came from Eleanor Carty and Bella Ridgway, as Velma and Amber Von Trussle, with splendid portrayals, complementing each other perfectly. Aiden Carson as Seaweed proficiently completed the super principal line-up. But as I have already said the whole of the cast deserve great praise.
A good set, quality costumes, good lighting and sound, made for a delightful production. Well done LEOS.
