On arrival at the venue the excitement and high energy levels generated from the cast preparing for the start of the show was exceptional and from curtain up the audience was right behind the newly established Youth division of MLO.  The bubbly Amy O’Byrne (11) took on the part of Tracy Turnblad with great confidence and wowed the audience from the start with ‘Good Morning Baltimore’.  Eva Caldwell (11) played the part of Penny Pingleton with great enthusiasm and great performances were provided by Maura Allan (13) and Liam Cassidy (15) as Edna and Wilbur Turnblad, Jenna Grabiec (10) and Elle-Sue Brownlie (10) as Amber and Velma Von-Tussle and Calum McGonigle (12) as Link Larkin.  Ross McArthur‘s (15) love of music also shone through in his polished performance as Corny Collins.  Unfortunately, I cannot name every principal or cast member individually but putting on a show requires great teamwork and this was clearly evident.  Full credit must go to the production team for their dedication in providing musical and stage direction with further credit to the adult members of MLO who provided coaching and support to the young entertainers.  A most enjoyable show and I look forward to seeing this young talent develop and filter through into the adult company.
