Guys and Dolls first produced in New York in the 1950’s and ran for 1200 performances before being premiered at the London Coliseum in 1953.  Director Sally Wooding brought the show to life on a very snowy night much to the delight of a packed audience with its hit numbers, toe tapping tunes, lots of action, and colourful costumes and many scene changes made for a happy evening.  The main character  Kevin Sampson (Sky Masterson) a former junior member in his first senior lead role gave a very creditable performance his singing and acting were of a very high standard. Danni Taylor (Sarah Brown) gave a very good support with her singing and acting ability.   Peter Barber (Nathan Detroit) brought a wealth of talent to the role of the inveterate gambler with his wonderful rich bass baritone voice and accomplished acting.  Alexandra Yates as Nathan’s long suffering fiancée Adelaide her singing and acting especially the lead part at the Hot Box Nightclub not to mention all the high rolling and dancing with hardly any clothes on, were very entertaining little wonder she was always getting a cold.   Nigel Morley (Nicely Nicely Johnson) and  Nick Lang (Benny Southstreet) both gave very good support.   Tony Ostime (Arvide Abernathy) sang the song ‘More I Cannot Wish You to his granddaughter Sarah at the Salvation Army Mission, with such pathos, it brought a tear to the eye.    Katy Hunt ( General Cartwright) leader of the Mission and  Steve Rawlins ( Lt Brannigan) were both very supportive in the roles.  Bob Good’s orchestra lively music complemented the cast. The two choreographers did a splendid job drilling the chorus in the musical numbers. Stage Manager Charlie Mansfield and his team enhanced the production.   Guys and Dolls entire ensemble made for an excellent evening.   Well done Farnham.
