From the opening Fugue for Tinhorns, superbly delivered by Nicely, Nicely (Dan Mckirgan), Benny (Grant Webb) and Rusty (Douglas McRobbe) the tone and pace was set for the whole show and it did not falter.

Sarah (Lauren Nimmo) was well cast, being suitably naïve with just a touch of the womanly wiles and eventually winning the heart of Skye Masterson (Ronnie Honey) who gave an excellent performance as the street wise gambler. Of particular note was their duet together (I’ll Know), beautifully sung by both.

Nathan (Brian Mckay) and Adelaide (Angela Dickinson) provided much of the comedy moments with Adelaide in particular gaining the sympathy of the audience in her portrayal of the desperate bride to be.

Arvide (Iain Fraser) and General Cartwright (Mhairi Stewart) gave well thought out performances and performed their roles with aplomb.

The whole company are to be congratulated in this production.  The chorus though few in number delivered a huge performance which they should be proud of.

My congratulations must go to Iain Fraser (Director) for such clever use of limited staging and lighting and for making so much use of the small cast to great effect.

A great night’s entertainment – well done CAOS.
