Take a talented group of youngsters who obviously enjoy singing and dancing on stage add in a good script together with a selection of good songs and you are bound to have a good evening’s entertainment.

Well anyone who attended The Academy Theatre this week got just that when they saw Take 2 Seniors perform Guys and Dolls.

There are many characters in this show and the majority of them call for experienced actors to carry them off, again even though the youngsters who played these parts may not have the years experience of other actors much older than them, they certainly made up for it in talent from the smaller parts right through to the lead roles, they all performed extremely well and it showed.

The two lead characters of Sister Sarah Brown and Sky Masterson were played to perfection by Lucie Cooper and James Bradshaw, both these two have come up through the ranks and were able to get everything out of the parts without going over the top, both were able to sing their songs with ease to give a first class performance.

The two parts which are usually classed as second leads but to my mind are every bit as important and almost as big as Sarah and Sky, are Adelaide and Nathan, played again by Ellie Cooper and William Batty. Both these youngsters, who although it is hard to believe are only 14 years old, played the same parts five years ago and were able to blow the audience away at that time proving once again how talented they are. Ellie proved to be every bit a talented performer when singing “Adelaide’s Lament” and also with the Hot Box Girls in “Take Back Your Mink”. Ellie was also joined on stage by Lucie to give an outstanding performance of “Marry The Man Today”.

There are many supporting roles in this show and it is almost impossible to name everyone but mention must go to Jake Lomas as Nicely Nicely Johnson, the well known song “Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat” is not an easy one to get over but Jake gave a very convincing performance joined by the rest of the cast.

All in all a really great show performed by a really great group of talented youngsters.
