Grease The Musical

For any society to embark on presenting such an iconic show as Grease they have to be pretty confident they have the right people to play the parts, well I can assure you Steps Productions  need have no worries about their production this week. Ash White, Anna White, Matt Symonds, Katie Watson and Jo Watson must be as pleased as punch with how this has gone and be very proud of all they have achieved.

It would be impossible to name all the ones who stood out in this production as everyone played each part to the full and gave excellent performances in all their respective parts.

From the opening number, Grease is the Word right through to the closing number, We go Together, it was sheer bliss to see and hear this group of talented young people both entertaining the audience and also enjoying themselves at the same time resulting in a well deserved standing ovation.

This show calls for good backing and here we had not a good one but a brilliant band led by Matt Symonds, they created a sound exactly right for this show and were never too loud as to drown out the singers on stage. This cannot have been an easy task as the band were perched high at the back of the stage behind the actors but which helped to create the right atmosphere of Rydell High School.

It was the last night of this production when I visited and for some on stage this was also the last time they would be performing with Steps Productions as some had reached the age when they would be too old for the group and some who are moving on to pastures new such as University to study drama etc. I have to say I did notice a few tears on stage and I am not surprised as this must have been an evening of very mixed emotions.

I wish all the members who are moving on every success in their chosen career, I am sure the ones who are going to continue with an acting career will have a great future in front of them.
