‘Grease is the word’ and I doubt if there are many people who don’t know at least some of the musical numbers from this popular show.
From the opening to the finale this young company showed sensational energy on stage to an enthusiastic audience.
Principal roles were superbly cast and all had great singing voices.
The Pink Ladies each showed differing characters, especially Fiona Spencer (Rizzo) who was suitably street-wise and abrasive. They all brought the scenes alive with their showstopper talent.
The T-birds had individuality and energy. Each and every one of them gave their all, and I loved their hairstyles. Well done guys!
Sarah Chapman and Danny Duckworth (Patty and Eugene) made a great pair of ‘geeks’ - especially hilarious during the High-School Hop!
Shelley Lofthouse made a lovely shy, gentle Sandy till she ‘came out of her shell’ and blossomed in the last scene! Wow! What an impact!
Paul Matthews caught the character of Danny expertly - ‘cool’ with his “T-bird” friends but tender when alone with Sandy. Vocals from this duo were excellent.
Mark Hutchinson made a fabulous “Teen Angel” and “Johnny Casino” – he has an incredible singing voice.
John Sandland’s band made an excellent sound, never overwhelming singers.
Technically excellent, lighting, sound, costumes, hair and back stage were spot on and the “Greased Lightening” definitely impressed!
?Many congratulations to Director Kevin Moore, Choreographer Judith Chapman and everyone involved in this most enjoyable and slick production.
Definitely the one show we all wanted!
