As you say in the programme introduction, not a show normally done by such a small amateur group and exciting for you all and think what you achieved.
Directors Sharon Coppin and Alysha Ayers with Musical Director Kayleigh Poacher really motivated this small group into thinking big with great energy and projection from all the named parts (see that they all participated within the casting for talent and numbers.) Also good for the future of the society to include those youngsters into the big production numbers with the use of the space below the stage for the movement and extra volume as needed from this second chorus.
The Pink Ladies were very well cast and pushed their characters over the footlights: Carly Zipfel as Marty led her group with great style, Jan (Vicky Aukett) was a strong personality who shone, loved the pink wig and spectacles and personality of Frenchy (Sophie Garrod), and Rizzo (Kayleigh Poacher) was almost overpowering in her stage presence and delivery. A lovely voice and the contrasting personality of Simone Holden as Sandy made the girls a complete unit.
On the male side Joshua Johnson as Danny was everything wanted in this role with voice and acting, and Tony Dosdale was an excellent personality and voice for Kenickie, these two worked particularly well together and with the rest of the gang Sonny (Martin Talbot), Doody (Nathan Talbot) and Roger (Amy Good).
The groups of girls and boys well balanced in power and projection. Also adding to the action Erin O’Rouke as a cheeky Patty, Becky Collard as the loud teacher Miss Lynch, the tones of Simon Clarke as Johnny Casino at the school hop, Dawn Boyd as the Cha Cha lady and Sharon Coppin in cameo as Teen Angel.
But the real lasting memory of the evening and congratulations to all for the big ensemble numbers which really got the audience on side and enjoying it all so much.
