Goodnight Mr Tom started its journey as a well loved childrens novel and being such a success was translaterd into many languages and then into the television play with the late John Thaw as Mr. Tom. Festival did not disappoint their full house when I visited on Thursday, with the very acomplished Nick Grainger taking the same role. Nick did not fail to bring out all the different emotions of Mr Tom, he was supported by an excllent William in Oliver Cunliffe, the young evacuee, who after much heartache, he finally adopts by the end of the play. There was strong support from some firm favourite Festival players plus some new faces. The set worked smoothly from all aspects and was in keeping with the wartime era. Well done to every one involved with this production.
