I always enjoy the LIDOS pantomime and this year was no exception. This was just the sort of entertainment to cheer you up on a snowy January evening. There was plenty of humour and the slapstick moments were spread throughout the show giving the audience lots of opportunities to shout and heckle. The songs were well chosen and appealed to the youngsters who were there. There was some delightful singing especially from Goldilocks (Kayleigh Newsome) and Tommy (Sophie Massa). The dancing numbers were simple but very effective especially in the big top numbers. It was a strong cast with plenty of comedy characters and they kept the show going at a good pace. The costumes were colourful especially the wonderful outfits worn by Sophie Sawdust (Bryan Craven), always important in a pantomime. The musical accompaniment by keyboard and drums worked very well providing sympathetic backing to the singers. A well directed and lively show throughout and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
