The President in her welcome described this show as lively with lots of humour and said that much of the interpretation was due to the director Liz Hume-Dawson and I totally agree with her. This show was absolutely brilliant. Every member of this small cast acted, sang and danced beautifully. Outstanding. One of many words I could describe this musical. The orchestra was superb, never overpowering the singers. Set was cleverly designed as a yard filled with rubbish, with props arranged amidst the junk. A great idea. Lighting was well thought out as lights followed the actors as they sang their solos.
Joe Foster was stunning playing Jesus. His vocals, acting and dancing were wonderful and he could tap dance! I thought his entry piece `Save the People` was stunning. Matthew Gavin was fantastic, taking the opening number `Prepare Ye The Way’ as John the Baptist and playing the rest of the show as Judas.
The rest of the young cast gave really exciting performances. They all had superb vocals reaching such high notes. The ideas were very innovative as we the audience see the parables come to life with up to date and contemporary references. It was obvious everyone had a lot of fun on stage. All the musical numbers were wonderfully sung. I especially enjoyed `Day By Day` sung by Lizy (Lizy Oakes), and `By My Side` sung by Charlotte (Charlotte James) and the cast. Once again could I reiterate that everyone sang so well every number was so well performed.
WELL DONE EVERYONE.
Thank you so much for a wonderful evening and your kind invitation.
