When you go and watch a RTSA show as soon as the overture starts and the house lights go down you know it’s going to be good, and it was. The show was wonderfully written, directed and choreographed by Dee Bennie Marshall and included some excellent vocal arrangements by the Musical Director Natalie Davies. The audience were not just supportive of this young and talented group but also captivated and blown away by the energy, enthusiasm and passion that they put into every performance from the start to the end of the show.

The show had a strong opening and strong principals lead by Ben Green playing Finn, Aimee Good playing Rachel, Emily Huddleston playing Quinn, Billy Luckett playing an excellent comedy role as Puck, Katie Eyre playing Terri, Matt Ellis playing Kurt, Faye Mellors playing Mercedes and Elliot Lee playing Artie. A special mention must go to Matt Roberts who played Will, the lead character of the show. This young man over the past two years has blossomed as a performer playing the Engineer in Miss Saigon and this role in Gleeful.

The show moved along with great pace and was held together by strong dynamics. There were too many highlights to mention as these were non stop from beginning to end but I must mention a few. “A Mother’s Prayer” sung by Katie Eyre and “Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore” sung by Ben Green and Emily Huddleston were both showstoppers and took the audiences breath away, something that even professionals find a challenging task.  I also must mention the junior end of the cast, especially Millie Ducker who played Mini- Me Rachel, the performance they produced shows that RTSA will not only continue to grow but will go from strength to strength.

If there is one thing in any amateur thespians career that they must do whether they are an adult or a young actor they must see a Rotherham Teachers Student Academy Show.

Well done to everyone on and off stage including the adults who work extremely hard with these youngsters and are an example to all.

A Great Show!
