‘Give us a Sign’ is a well-crafted and very funny play written by Tony Domaille. This play is ideally suited to the venue and skills of the Hardingstone Players. The director, Alison Roberts has done an excellent job with this production, the casting was perfect, the piece had great pace and I loved the staging, particularly the use of the front sides of the stage for the outdoor scenes whilst the main stage lighting was dimmed.

The plot for this play appears on the surface to be a simple one, the central character, Ken, has been out of work for some time and is under pressure from his wife, Rachel to seek employment, he decides that he will become a clairvoyant, thinking that this would be an easy way to make money, little did he know that he would become embroiled in a sinister web of espionage …

Ken Roberts was excellent in the role of Ken Lockwood, he brought his character to life with some brilliant comic timing I really enjoyed this performance. Rhiannon George was very good as Ken’s wife Rachel Lockwood she too had good timing which made for some very funny scenes with Ken. Joel Dobb played the role of Pearce wonderfully, displaying some great character acting. Tammy Butler as Nadia Kovlova also showed great character acting ability. Gary Butler was very good in the role of Chuck Bush I found it hard to believe that this was his very first acting role! Rachel Dobb played the part of the ghostly Professor Alice Richards perfectly. Well done to all the cast, you were awesome!

The set for this play was excellent and was very well dressed. The costumes were very good and in keeping with the piece. The lighting and sound quality was excellent throughout the evening.

Congratulations and thank you to all at Hardinstone Players both on and off the stage, for this very funny and highly entertaining production of ‘Give Us a Sign’
