This musical showcase was a fine performance from the Musical Society. The show featured excerpts from nineteen musicals, old and new to Broadway and the West End. Musicals featured included brand new shows like Hamilton, which tells the story of the early days of American Independence, Dream Girls, and Mean Girls, as well as older shows like Guys and Dolls, Singin in the Rain and Les Miserables.
There were some very good solos, ensembles and full company numbers performed to a very enthusiastic audience. Kim Hazzard excelled in the Les Miserables section, as did Jack Pike, who was kept particularly busy all night. The Society young people,’ Next Generation’ ‘performed some lovely routines, and young Henry Vause, was excellent with his solo contributions. There are far too many good performances to name everyone individually, but there really wasn’t a weak link in the whole team. The pre recorded accompaniment worked very well, well done MD Mark.
I was very impressed with the video wall which introduced the shows to be performed, sound was very good on Saturday evening, and the lighting suited the situations being played.
Very well done to the production team and crew, and to the whole WADAMS company for a very enjoyable evening’s entertainment.
